Family Therapy
I base my practice of family therapy in the theories behind Attachment-Based Family Therapy and Structural Family Therpapy. In these theories, families are seen as the medicine. Parents have such a powerful role to play in strengthening the health and happiness of their children and their marriage. It will take work to transform the family interactions from conflictual to healing, but I have great confidence in the changes families make in therapy.
I also offer Parent Management Training (PMT) which is an approach to help parents specifically target problem behaviors. It is a manualized/structured approach that I pair with mentalization-based therapy (MBT) to help parents gain greater understanding and patience with their children while working on behavior change. PMT targets behaviors and skills, while MBT ensures parents have the emotional capacity to utilize the skills learned.
